This unique device, the only prosthetic component currently available which is designed specifically for humeral rotation, provides upper-arm amputees with almost completely normal range of movement. The HR Unit from Rimjet permits movement in an arc of up to 220 degrees, and has positive locking positions. Placement of the device in the humeral section will determine the possible degree of internal rotation. Optimum rotation is recommended to be 165 degrees internal and 55 degrees external. While the unilateral above-elbow amputee will find this device extremely valuable, the bilateral above-elbow amputee will derive immeasurable benefits. The movement range allowed by the HR Unit will permit the bilateral above-elbow amputee to become self sufficient in such areas as dressing, grooming and other personal care. Design of the HR Unit allows complete control by the amputee's own muscle structure. It does not require a foreign force or use of another limb for positioning and relocation, when cabled correctly. The HR Unit is constructed to the highest standards of quality for trouble free operation. It is easily assembled and disassembles for cleaning and servicing and is designed to prevent the entry of any foreign matter which might harm its operation.
